It was in 2019 when I joined Punjab University College of Information Technology Lahore and got myself enrolled in bachelor's of Software Engineering. There I got to know about the GDSC program powered by Google. It was the first year of DSC at our campus and I attended their introductory event where they introduced the program, and the DSC core team as well. That day, it became my fantasy. I very much liked the idea of such a platform which will help me learn new technology stacks combined with helping others. So basically what is GDSC?
Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) are university based community groups for students interested in Google developer technologies.
It involves:
• Leading a team for planning & hosting different workshops
• Make an impact on students by guiding & supporting them to learn new skills and get hands-on experience with Google Technologies.

I made up my mind in 2020 that I’ll be applying for DSC Lead next year, and in 2021 I did! The process was quite smooth but it was definitely not a piece of cake. A lot of people face rejection when they first apply, and there’s much more to it but luckily I got selected the first time I applied and became the first female lead from my campus.
A bunch of days after filling the form for GDSC, I received the email for an interview call. It was a little anxious moment for me because I came to knew that many other fellow peers are also applying and they have also got the call for interview. However I mustered up my courage and started preparing for the interview. The interview went quite good and I was satisfied with it however I feared that my competitors are also worth it! But I had so much hope in my dream, and I prayed to Almighty to grant me with this opportunity. All the hope and prayers combined, after a wait of a month and a week more, I received a beautiful email in my spam folder! Yes! Such an important mail in spam xD

I became the GDSC Lead! It was such an overwhelming and proud feeling and I couldn’t say anything but Alhumdullilah (All praise to Almighty) at that moment.

I'll try to get the best out of this one time opportunity by growing my knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and put theory to practice by building solutions for local businesses and within my community.
